“ I dunno if it's the cold weather, or I'm just getting lazy but I've been going out for coffee more often...which is rare since 99% of the time I make and consume it at home or office. But it is a nice treat to pop into different coffee shops around town to sample their brews. I was in the Tysons area and needed a caffeine hit. I've had Basecamp Coffee Roasters bookmarked for a while, and was encouraged that many of my Yelp friends rate it highly. It's a bit hidden and the best way to describe the location is "behind" the Chik-Fil-A. There is also parking near the entrance, so just drive down the side of the building, instead of parking in the main front part of the mall like I did since it'll save you a few steps. The interior is a mix of modern with outdoorsy chic. Poured concrete floors are juxtaposed against hardwood furniture and posters of America's national parks. I like that unlike some coffee shops, this place is brightly lit with natural illumination from the big windows and overhead track lighting. The wi-fi is also speedy and didn't lag during my visit. Since I was staying for a bit and also needed to get some work done, I ordered a "plain" drip coffee. I agree with some of the other reviews that the main criticism is that the prices are on the high side. A 16 oz drip coffee was almost $5. Was the coffee good? Yes...in fact, quite good for regular drip. The beverage was smooth, with a deep full bodied richness, and wasn't diluted when a small amount of 1/2+1/2 was added. But would I stop in on a regular basis for this coffee? Probably not. I spent a productive hour here and some people I met up with, also commented that the coffee was nice and strong. Restrooms are located up a staircase, and shared with the indoor rock climbing gym on the upper level. All in all, despite it's higher prices, Basecamp Roaster is one of the better coffee shops and worth a try if you're in the area. ”
“ Super cool coffee spot below a rock climbing gym. The baristas are always really friendly and the inside is chill with plenty of seating. The food and drinks are delicious. Love stopping in for a matcha or chai latte, but also I've really enjoyed some of their seasonal selections. Be sure to check out Basecamp when you're around! ”
“ I absolutely love the coffee here! It's a bit pricey, but honestly, Atleast the quality lives up to it. I come here often to work because the atmosphere is super relaxed, and the staff is always friendly. The bathroom is upstairs, which is connected to a Bouldering / fitness place, so that could be a fun combo for some people! ”
“ I've been here on three occasions and I absolutely love the national park themed decor with the contrasting cozy industrial environment. I highly recommend the s'mores latte and the pistachio mocha latte. The coffee here is soooo good and smooth. NO BITTER TASTE whatsoever like some other coffee shops. The service is always 10/10. My only con is that the coffee is rather expensive which is why I only get it when I want to splurge on myself. I've paid $9-10 for coffee each time I've stopped by. ”
“ It's a surprisingly spacious coffee shop under Vertical Rock Tysons (rock climbing gym) tucked away in the back of a shopping plaza behind Chick-fil-A. The coffee was tasty and robust, with acidity, and the coffee cake we tried was good. Unlike other dry and crumbly coffee cakes, this one was moist and soft with just the right amount of sweetness that went very well with the coffee. The ambiance was calm and dim in the back, making it feel cozy. Many pumpkins were on display, making us feel like we had entered the autumn season. ”
“ Base camp is my new go to coffee shop in the Tyson's area! The shop is large and has ample seating for groups, people to work on their laptops, and even a bar area. Service is fast and friendly and the coffee was delicious. They have grab and go items as well as bakery items so something for everyone. Definitely check this place out! ”
“ Coffee Shop No. 418 Basecamp Coffee Roasters Tysons, VA September 21, 2024 I was so excited to finally get to have coffee with one of my CrossFit buddies. We made our way to Basecamp Coffee Roasters. It's located in the back corner of a very busy parking lot, but we had no problem finding parking. The shop was much grander than I expected. Colorful vintage style posters of National Parks are hung on the wall. Gorgeous live edge wood bar height tables are available to relax at. The space was very open and the lighting gave off an uncluttered spacious feel even though the shop was busy when I was there. It seemed like great spot to get remote work done; an entire side of the shop was full folks on their computers. Be sure to take a glance at the coffee bags they have for sale. The bags are bright with vivid colors; several were for sale. Above Basecamp Coffee Roasters is Vertical Rock Climbing and Fitness Center. My son used to be an avid climber so I made my way up the stairs to check it out. The space is large and it focuses on bouldering. In one corner is a fitness center and classes are available. Obviously, I went there for the cortado and it was delicious, but I was too busy chatting with my friend I forgot to take a picture. Enjoying life one cortado at a time! ”
“ Got a Japanese cold drip($8) and an iced leprechaun coffee($5). The Japanese cold drip coffee was very smooth and light. I added some half and half with vanilla syrup. Leprechaun iced coffee had dulce de leche syrup and mint. Barista were nice and quick making it. Pretty solid coffee for the price, I would come back again. Drink: 8.0 Staff/service: 8.0 Value: 6.5 Overall: 7.7/10 ”
“ After a climbing session at Vertical, my friend and I went downstairs to visit their coffee shop. The Drinks: I went with a class Iced Caramel coffee here. The coffee was good, mixed well and didn't have a burnt taste at all. Well flavored for my liking and at an affordable price as well. The Service: Service was good! The staff here are friendly and welcoming when you walk in. Ordering was easy and straight forward with orders being sent out in a timely manner. The Atmosphere: With the climbing gym being upstairs, it only makes sense that the decor and atmosphere fit into the "climbing/adventure" aesthetic. The coffee shop is spacious with plenty of seats to either relax/hangout or get some work done. They had nice National Park posters/stuff decorated around the shop as well. Really nicely decorated. Overall, a 5/5! Great coffee, very chill and relaxing vibes. Would definitely come back. ”
“ I heard so much about Basecamp and I had to give it a try. It was a cold day outside and I wanted to get something hot, so I decided to do just that. It had such a home-y vibe inside and I wish I had more time to spend inside but I had to just go to grab a drink and leave. I ordered a medium hot vanilla latte with almond milk and it came out quick and perfect. It was a drinkable temperature right when I got it which was a huge plus. I really don't enjoy when some coffee shops make their drinks scorching hot when they hand them to you. When I am back in the area, I hope I can come back to Basecamp to try a different drink! ”
